Pastor Andy Abbas There are two events that have been life-defining for me. After graduating from California State University Stanislaus, JoAnn and I were married in Turlock, California July 18th, 1970. We became a part of the privileged group who could say, “my three sons”. Our oldest son, Timothy, and his wife Gina, have two children, Joshua and Jenna. Tim is a sixth grade history teacher at a Christian School in Southern California, and Gina is a Jr. High Activities Coordinator. Our second son, Stephen, lives in Hanford and helps with the JUNKyard youth ministry. He is a freelance professional photographer. Our youngest son, Jonathan, and his wife, Kristin, also live in Southern California. Jon is finishing up his credential and masters degree. He also works at the YMCA. Kristin is an event planner for the Down’s Syndrome Association. Both Jonathan and Kristin are working as youth directors at their church. When the nine of us get together, it is great ! When I was 17, I made the commitment to follow Christ as Lord, wherever He led me. After graduating from Denver Seminary, He guided me into youth ministry in Minnesota, to serve in three different churches. Before coming to Hanford, we lived in Pasadena where I attended Fuller Seminary. I was driving home from teaching a business class when I realized God was calling me to be the pastor at Lakeside Community Church. The verse I always come back to is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.” The sign in front of the church says, “Come as you are.” My family and I came nineteen years ago, and continue to thank the Lord for Lakeside Community Church … and we invite you to join us.
Tim Hanson, Minister of Worship Tim was born and raised in the South Bay Area. After graduating from high school, he attended San Jose State University where he accepted Jesus Christ his freshman year. Tim transferred to UC Davis, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. The Lord altered his business plans and led him into a two-year internship program focusing on Music Worship and Education along with discipleship. It was while serving as an intern that Tim met his future wife, Pamela. They married and moved to Auburn, California to serve as Minister of Worship and Education. Their son, Eric was born while in Auburn. Wanting to continue in the ministry, but also to focus more on education, Tim accepted a position in 1991 at Kings Christian School in Lemoore, California, as a fifth grade teacher. Since the move to the Central Valley, Tim has also served at Lakeside Community Church as Worship Minister, overseeing the worship ministry through music, drama and special activities involving both adults and children. Also while here in the Central Valley, their three daughters, Audrey, Emily and Natalie were born. Eric and Audrey are now in college and their two younger daughters attend Kings Christian High School. Along with his love for the Lord, his wife, and children, Tim enjoys playing guitar, singing, running, playing tennis, watching sports (especially baseball!), coaching and announcing for Kings Christian High School sporting events.
